This Content License supplements and is incorporated into our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.
At a glance
- The Content is read-only for paying subscribers and authorized free-tier readers.
- You may read, print for personal use, and quote briefly with attribution.
- You may not republish, redistribute, mirror, resell, or use the Content to train any AI system.
- The license ends when your subscription ends or when this license is revoked.
1. What we mean by “Content”
“Content” means everything published on logistics.knowledgebricks.com and knowledgebricks.com, including but not limited to:
- Articles, wiki pages, and reference materials, including their full text and structure.
- Diagrams, illustrations, charts, photographs, and screenshots authored or curated by us.
- Taxonomies, page hierarchies, sidebar structures, tags, and the editorial compilation itself.
- Embeddings, retrieval indexes, and any vector representation of the foregoing.
- Code samples, calculators, formulas, and worked examples.
- Outputs generated by Ask a SME that are derived from the Content.
The Content does not include open-source software dependencies, third-party trademarks, or material we have explicitly identified as licensed from a third party (those are governed by their own licenses).
2. Grant of license
Subject to your continued compliance with these Terms and your payment of any applicable subscription fees, Applied Continuity LLC dba KnowledgeBricks (“we”, “us”) grants you a:
limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and view the Content through the Service for your own professional development and operational reference.
That is the entire grant. Nothing in this license should be read to grant any broader right by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.
3. Permitted uses
You may:
- Read Content within the Service on devices you control, at human reading speeds.
- Print or save (e.g., browser “Save as PDF”) individual articles for your personal reference and offline reading.
- Quote brief excerpts — under 200 words per article — in good-faith commentary, education, or review, provided that you clearly attribute the quote to “KnowledgeBricks” and link back to the source page on logistics.knowledgebricks.com or knowledgebricks.com.
- Reference the existence of an article in your own work (citation by URL or title) without restriction.
- Use ideas you learn. Facts, methods, and general know-how learned from the Content are not subject to this license — only the specific expression and compilation are.
4. Prohibited uses
You may not:
4.1 Redistribute or republish
- Copy, mirror, repost, or rehost the Content, in whole or in substantial part, on any other website, application, knowledge base, internal wiki, course, newsletter, or repository.
- Bundle the Content into deliverables for clients, employers, or third parties as if it were your own.
- Translate the Content into another language and republish the translation.
4.2 Resell or sublicense
- Sell, sublicense, lease, lend, or otherwise grant access to the Content or your account to any other person or organization.
- Use the Content in any paid or free service that competes with KnowledgeBricks.
- Charge any fee — direct or indirect — for access to the Content or to derivatives of it.
4.3 Train AI systems
- You may not use the Content, or any output of Ask a SME derived from the Content, to train, fine-tune, distill, evaluate, ground, retrieval-augment, or otherwise develop any machine-learning model, foundation model, embedding model, vector index, or AI system, whether for internal use or external distribution.
- This restriction applies regardless of whether the resulting model is open-source, proprietary, free, or paid; whether the training is performed by you, on your behalf, by your employer, or by an automated agent; and whether the data is used directly or transformed into “synthetic” derivatives.
- The reciprocal commitment from us — that we will not sell or license the Content or your data for third-party AI training — is in our Privacy Policy Section 6.
4.4 Automated access
- Use crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers, browser automation tools, or AI agents to access the Content beyond ordinary in-browser reading.
- Bypass rate limits, paywalls, tier gates, or authentication checks.
- Pre-fetch, cache, or index protected pages outside of normal browser caching.
See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full operational rules.
4.5 Attribution and integrity
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright notice, trademark, attribution line, or authorship indication in the Content.
- Misrepresent the source, authorship, or accuracy of the Content.
- Edit, annotate, or alter the Content and present the altered version as ours.
4.6 Reverse engineering
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source materials, embeddings, prompts, system instructions, or retrieval logic from the Service.
- Probe the Service for the purpose of reconstructing its corpus or its retrieval index.
5. Brief-quotation guidance (so you can do this confidently)
If you want to cite us in a blog post, conference talk, internal training, or LinkedIn post:
- Keep the direct quote under 200 words per article.
- Put the quote in quotation marks or a blockquote.
- Attribute it to KnowledgeBricks with a link to the specific article URL.
- Do not quote the same article repeatedly across multiple posts in a way that effectively reproduces it.
That’s it — we want to be cited well, we just don’t want to be republished.
6. Ask a SME outputs
Outputs generated by Ask a SME are themselves derivative of the Content and are subject to this license. You may use Ask a SME outputs:
- For your personal reference and decision support.
- As a starting point in your own work, provided you independently verify accuracy and exercise your own professional judgment.
You may not:
- Publish, sell, or redistribute Ask a SME outputs as standalone products, datasets, or training material.
- Use Ask a SME outputs to populate another AI tool, knowledge base, or customer-facing product.
7. Trademarks
“KnowledgeBricks”, “KBaaS”, “Logistics” (as used in our domain), and the related logos and marks are trademarks of Applied Continuity LLC. This license does not grant any right to use those marks, except for the limited attribution use described in Section 3 (citation with link). Any other use requires our prior written consent.
8. User-submitted content
If you submit feedback, suggestions, error reports, or questions through Ask a SME or any other channel (“Submissions”), you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate the Submissions into the Service and into our internal product-improvement corpus. We will not publicly attribute Submissions to you without your consent. We will treat the contents of your Submissions consistent with the Privacy Policy, including automated PII redaction before storage.
9. Term and termination
This license is effective while you have an active subscription or other authorized access to the Service. It terminates automatically when:
- Your subscription lapses, is cancelled, or is suspended for non-payment.
- We terminate your account for breach of the Terms or Acceptable Use Policy.
- We discontinue the Service.
On termination, your right to access the Content ends immediately. You must stop using and, where reasonably practicable, delete any locally cached copies obtained under Section 3 (e.g., printed PDFs you saved). The prohibitions in Section 4 (including the no-AI-training clause) survive termination indefinitely with respect to any Content you obtained while the license was in effect.
10. Reservation of rights
All rights not expressly granted in this license are reserved by Applied Continuity LLC. The Content is licensed, not sold.
11. Changes
We may update this license from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. For material changes we will provide notice via the Service or by email at least fifteen (15) days before they take effect.
